Bench Management
Bench management is one of Dugout Master’s core features. It tracks how many innings each player has sat so coaches can keep playing time fair across the whole roster.
How bench tracking works
Section titled “How bench tracking works”At the end of each inning, any player in the batting order who is not assigned to a field position is counted as benched for that inning.
Dugout Master accumulates each player’s bench count across all innings in a game. You can see this at a glance on:
- Each player’s row in the batting rail (bench inning count)
- The inning card (total bench slots for that inning)
Bench fairness
Section titled “Bench fairness”When you use Auto-fill, Dugout Master picks bench players using a weighted algorithm:
- Players who have sat the most innings recently are less likely to sit again
- Dugout Master also avoids putting the same player on the bench two innings in a row when possible
Manual bench assignment
Section titled “Manual bench assignment”To bench a player manually:
- Tap the player in the batting rail
- Tap Bench in the player action bar
Or, leave a player unassigned after filling all field positions — they’re automatically considered benched.
Bench percentage
Section titled “Bench percentage”On the player stats page, each player’s Bench % shows the percentage of innings they’ve sat across all games in the season. This is one of the key fairness metrics Dugout Master surfaces.
